I am not a fan of orchids. They are too exotic, too unreal, although, of course, they are very real. Perhaps, if I had lived in a place where orchids did grow naturally, I wouldn't have such a hard time with them.

I love orchids more than anything in the world. OK, that might be an exaggeration.... but I do love them. Honestly, some are a bit garish, but that is true of many tropicals. I prefer the subtle; the paler colors and the smaller petals. And my true love is the northern lady slipper. But yes, I am a die-hard orchid fan. I admit it.
